Browse diversified Flexible couplings from Emechmart
Flexible coupling manufacturers offer products to connect shafts, transmitting torque power while compensating for misalignment. Emechmart provides such couplings.
Emechmart provides robust couplings that have attributes including torsional stiffness, reactance, torque, life and coupling system. All of these have an effect on pairing selection on your industrial application. Specific details vary depending on the different types and their functions, so you should seek guidance from experts to select the bushed pin flexible coupling for your industrial application.
Diverse size and selection of Flexible couplings at Emechmart
The rich, flexible coupling types available at Emechmart provide a wide range of performance trade-offs. When choosing between them, resist the temptation to exaggerate service factors. The purpose of the coupling service factor is to compensate for the difference in the specific torque load of different driven systems and to provide a reasonable service life of the coupling.
If chosen too conservatively, they can mislead the selection, drive up the cost of the connection to unnecessary levels and even invite damage elsewhere in the system. Remember that if the system is overloaded, operated improperly, or is somehow out of specification, a properly selected coupling must break before something more expensive can be found. Determining the right type of flexible pipe coupling for pumps begins with outlining the application:
-
Prime Mover Type - Electric Motor, Diesel Engine, Other
-
Vibration, both linear and torsional
-
Shaft size, key-way size and desired fit between the shaft and bore
-
Shaft-to-shaft misalignment - note the degree of angular offset (where shafts are not parallel) and amount of parallel offset.
-
Axial (in/out) shaft movement, BE distance (between driving and driven shaft ends), and any other space-related limitations.
-
Ambient conditions - primarily temperature range and chemical or oil exposure
Ideal method to use Flexible couplings
When using flexible flange coupling for shaft connections, a powerful oil injection method is taken advantage of. The preparation of the shaft is simple. There is no keyway, no taper and no thrust ring for the machine. When mounting an OK coupling, a thin inner sleeve with tapered outer diameter slides over the shaft.
A thick outer sleeve fits over the inner sleeve matching the tapered inner surface.
When the outer sleeve reaches its final position, an interference fit is created - as if the outer sleeve has heated up and shrunk.
This powerful use of friction enables bush pin type flexible coupling to transmit torque and axial loads across the shaft area. There are no stress risers on the keyway. And don't panic when high shock or reverse loads are present.
Application Specifications
Initially, gear flexible coupling falls into two primary groups, metallic and elastomeric. Metal types use loosely fitted parts that roll or slide against each other or non-movable parts that bend to accommodate misalignment. The elastomeric flexible coupling, on the other hand, derives flexibility from elastic, non-moving, rubber or plastic elements that transmit torque between metal hubs.
-
Torsional stiffness, meaning very little "twist" between hubs, in some cases provides a positive displacement of the driven shaft for each incremental motion of the driving shaft.
-
Operating in relatively high ambient temperatures and the presence of certain oils or chemicals.
-
Electric motor drives, as metallurgy, are generally not recommended for gas/diesel engines.
-
Relatively stable, low-inertia loads metallic couplings are generally not recommended for operating reciprocating pumps, compressors, and other vibratory machinery.
